ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

I meet so many people from different cultures who are all united by one thing – cooking!
‘Life is a combination of magic and pasta’ (Federico Fellini). Food is, and has always been, a way into a country’s or a place’s local culture. The Roman food culture is very rich and I am excited to be sharing it with you when you visit Rome!

A typical lesson goes something like this: we spend a couple of hours preparing, cooking, and learning about the dishes and the techniques used. Then we sit down to your very own home-cooked meal with a good bottle of wine.
I start by taking you through the ingredients, explaining the origin of each of them and the history of each recipe. I enjoy the variety of Italian regional cuisine and I'm keen to impart my knowledge with you. This is also a great way for people to get a taste of the real Italian culture when visiting Rome and learning how to make some authentic Italian dishes and bring these skills back home!
Ciao

I signed my husband, brother, and myself up for a cooking class with Sandra during our stay in Italy. Before our cooking class my brother and husband were acting like they didnt want to go, they thought it would be boring, but as soon as they got there, they loved it. Sandra got us all involved in the cooking process. It was so much fun! We make a pesto from scratch, which at first I wasn't too excited about because I've made pesto before, but Sandra showed us how to use a mortar and postal to crush the basil, pine nuts, and garlic all together with salt and olive oil. The taste was phenomenal! Unlike the way I make it at home. So creamy and delicious. For pur main course we make pasta from scratch. This was a fun activity and we did so while sipping from and Italian white wine. Dessert was tiramisu and again, was simple to make, yet done authentically. We all walked away with smiles on our faces and full, satisfied bellies. I would highly recommend taking a cooking class with Sandra as she is kind, funny, and a great cook. I can't wait to go home and recreate all the dishes I learned from Sandra for my family and friends!

This class was the highlight of our trip in Rome. Sandra was absolutely lovely and clearly has a passion for both cooking and teaching. We had a lot of fun, and the couple that was with us were a hoot. We learned a lot about the techniques of making pasta and other various dishes (including caprese salad and tiramisu) and then sat down to a delicious meal with wonderful conversation! I would recommend this class to anyone, and if I come back to Rome and would come again :)
