ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

I meet so many people from different cultures who are all united by one thing – cooking!
‘Life is a combination of magic and pasta’ (Federico Fellini). Food is, and has always been, a way into a country’s or a place’s local culture. The Roman food culture is very rich and I am excited to be sharing it with you when you visit Rome!

A typical lesson goes something like this: we spend a couple of hours preparing, cooking, and learning about the dishes and the techniques used. Then we sit down to your very own home-cooked meal with a good bottle of wine.
I start by taking you through the ingredients, explaining the origin of each of them and the history of each recipe. I enjoy the variety of Italian regional cuisine and I'm keen to impart my knowledge with you. This is also a great way for people to get a taste of the real Italian culture when visiting Rome and learning how to make some authentic Italian dishes and bring these skills back home!

ABOUT THEMENU

We will have three courses: appetizers, main course, dessert OR appetizer, second course and the dessert. The menù may change according to the seasons, I love to have fresh ingredients to use for the recipes!

Fish menù
Stuffed anchovies with vegetables
Spaghetti with mussels and various fishes and shrimps ( spaghetti allo scoglio) , or Spaghetti with fresh anchovies and grated lemon peel
Fish fillet with spring onions vegetables cooked in white wine,
Panna cotta with red fruit sauce or lemon sorbet
White wines

Meat menù
Various crostini with tomatoes and salumi or panzerotti( stuffed with tomatoes and mozzarella) or stuffed fried courgette flowers ( mozzarella)
Fresh home made pasta with meat ( ravioli, ragù bolognese, amatriciana)
Beef meat cooked in red wine sauce with spices ( carbonada) or saltimbocca with fresh seasonal vegetables
Creme caramel or Tiramisù
Red wines

Veg menù
Pumpkin cream with fresh cheese and red wine syrup or zucchini and tomatoes mashed served in a flute glass with ricotta fresh cheese , basil and pine nuts.
Fresh homemade pasta with vegetables ( orecchiette alle cime di rapa), or Pesto made with the real marble mortar and pestle.
Risotto with red trevisano cooked in red wine with parmesan
Stuffed cabbage leaves with mashed potatoes, scamorza affumicata ( smoked cheese) and salsa of porcini mushrooms or parmesana with eggplants with fresh tomatoes and basil souce.
Tiramisù
Panna cotta or sorbet
white/Red wines

This has been the best experience ever! We had such an amazing time cooking with Sandra, we made a vegetarian menu that had fried zucchini flowers stuffed with buffalo mozzarella, risotto cooked with trevisano, parmesan and red wine and rosmery, and tiramisu (and also wine! Lol). Sandra is so fun and welcoming, and apart from the wonderful cooking we were also so happy to get to know her over the incredible and very delicious dinner that we made. Very very highly recommended, every person with a passion for cooking that is traveling to Rome should go visit Sandra and take this great great class!!! Already planning on making Risotto next Friday for my friends here in Israel.

My partner and I was looking for a good cooking class last minute while we were in Rome. Sandra was really quick to respond and accommodated us the same day we book for the class. Sandra was very informative and made us felt right at home. We learned to make pasta with the sauce, foccacia bread and paired with a wine, and a dessert. She taught us a lot about cooking techniques and history. We shared some good conversations about food while having our meals. Sandra is really interesting and knowledgeable about food. We had a fabulous first night in Italy with Sandra back in June. She was an incredibly friendly and hospitable host and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and enjoy ourselves - which we did, immensely! My friend and I enjoyed our time with Sandra while learning to make pasta, tiramisu, and eggplant Parmesan. Sandra has great skill to pass on plus she is a delightful host. Our best evening during our trip in Rome! Sandra is really an expert in teaching, cooking and being an amazing host! This is the perfect way to learn AND taste some proper Italian local cuisine!
