ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

I meet so many people from different cultures who are all united by one thing – cooking!
‘Life is a combination of magic and pasta’ (Federico Fellini). Food is, and has always been, a way into a country’s or a place’s local culture. The Roman food culture is very rich and I am excited to be sharing it with you when you visit Rome!

A typical lesson goes something like this: we spend a couple of hours preparing, cooking, and learning about the dishes and the techniques used. Then we sit down to your very own home-cooked meal with a good bottle of wine.
I start by taking you through the ingredients, explaining the origin of each of them and the history of each recipe. I enjoy the variety of Italian regional cuisine and I'm keen to impart my knowledge with you. This is also a great way for people to get a taste of the real Italian culture when visiting Rome and learning how to make some authentic Italian dishes and bring these skills back home!
Ciao

P.s. - My classes are at 7 pm and the lesson is followed by dinner. There is no morning class. :)

The experience was fantastic! Sandra was a great host and great teacher. If you're looking for a way to get away from the historic center of Roma and experience real Roman life and real Roman (not tourist) food, then you need to try BonAppetour and Sandra! Our host Sandra was fantastic. My wife and I both speak decent Italian but we are not at all fluent, Sandra speaks perfect English. She has a wonderful flat just outside the city center (30 minutes from Termini station to her apartment - includes a 5-8 minute walk from station). Sandra asked if we had any preference in the type of dishes we wanted to make. We let her choose based on what was fresh and available. If you want a commerical feel to your cooking lesson, then this is not for you. This is very personal and in the home of a real Roman. She is passionate about food and cooking healthy, traditional food from all regions of Italy. Not only did we have the opportunity to cook some great dishes, she taught us some Italian as well. The food and the conversation were amazing. This was our first ever experience with BonAppetour. They were very professional and communicated with us each step of the way and helped make the experience and the transaction very smooth. We will certainly try this again in another city.

I had a fantastic lesson cooking and chatting with Sandra! I loved learning how to prepare fresh fish stuffed with a pesto of pezzemolo, garlic and anchiovies. We also made an incredible pasta with a savoury sauce and lemon sorbetto! Highly recommend this approachable and delicious lesson.

Sandra was funny, wise and gave a great lesson in making pasta and Piemonte ragu. I just made Tajarin to Sandra 's recipe and my friend said it tasted delicious. Very much recommended.

This was such a stand-out experience - I can't wait to go back! Sandra is an accomplished chef, story teller and a fantastic resource for all kinds of Italian cooking. She knows her ingredients inside out and has lived all over the country - adding to the depth of her knowledge. This ample three hour class saw me learn how to make a three course dinner based on an outline of ingredients which I had selected. Sandra came up with incredibly fresh fish from her local market, and we produced a seafood soup, anchovy pasta and finished with panna cotta dressed with a syrupy red wine sauce. It was all so good! Loved the experience and was an honour being in her cosy home. I learned so much! Would definitely book again.
