Are you looking for restaurants in Rome? How about going for a meal while meeting locals in Rome? Join me for either lunch or dinner in Rome, near Vatican City, and experience a variety of delicious authentic Italian dishes.
Being a professional Chef and a Sommelier, you can expect to have a wonderful 5 course meal, of course with the best wines chosen by me, and perhaps some home-made limoncello! Join me and my girlfriend - we are both Romans and we like cooking, wine, films and rugby. During our meal together, you can be sure to have a good, relaxing time, full of pleasant conversations. We like to talk about various subjects including food, films and readings. My girlfriend is in fact a writer and a film critic!
Besides cooking the best Italian dishes, we love meeting new people from around the world!
I live a short distance away from the Vatican City and St.Peter's, in a beautiful, quiet and cozy neighbourhood. The way to my apartment is filled with cobblestoned pathways and beautiful old houses. As it is also on a hill, you can catch a glimpse of the Roman skyline, over the Vatican City.
In the summer and when the weather is beautiful, we can have dinner in my well kept garden where you can see and smell the herbs I will use for your dishes and the lemon tree that I use for my homemade limoncello!
Alessandro’s home restaurant was amazing!! He will tell you his story and prepare an amazing meal for you, he is a trained chef and sommelier so you can go wrong coming here! He’s house is so lovely and he speaks very good English. He knows what wine goes perfectly with your meal and is great at engaging in interesting topics and the changes in Italy in all areas from politics to immigration to tourism!
Alessandro opened his home to us and prepared one of the most wonderful meals we’ve ever had! Everything was fantastic, from Alessandro’s and Elena’s graciousness to the delicious meal and wine! This was definitely one of our best experiences in Italy! Also, Alessandro took so much time in giving us information on places in Rome and the surrounding area to visit with excellent restaurant recommendations. He even followed up with detailed information in an email that was very helpful for the remainder of our visit. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Alessandro and Elena and we had a wonderful dinning experience with them! Highly recommend it!
Great experience for a family of four. Food was authentic and delicious and Allesandro provided a lot of of history and information on the dishes he served. Limoncello at the end made from his own lemon tree was a nice touch. Enjoyed by all, and was definitely one of the highlights to our visit to Rome. Thanks Allesandro.
We had a really lovely dining experience with Tony and Elena, He clearly loves sharing his passion for the food he prepares, explaining each course and matching the wine to it perfectly. Tony even had something prepared for our young son which was not on our menu. We would highly recommend this experience and hopefully will be back one day to spend another evening with Tony. Not forgetting his wonderful home made Limoncello made from a tree in his garden. Thank you Tony and Elena
It was an experience that I would recommend to others. Tony has a passion for what he is doing and he was a wonderful host. My sister and I really enjoyed the food, our host and mingling with the other guests
My husband and I had a dining experience with Alessandro during our trip to Rome that was fabulous to say the least. It came at the end of a 3 week trip to Italy mostly in Puglia and was most definitely our best meal of the entire trip. Alessandro is a talented chef as well as a sommelier. Our meal was prepared with care and incredibly fresh with all local ingredients and a great wine pairing of a regional wine. I hope to duplicate some of the dishes when I return home. The conversation was engaging and it was great getting to know Alessandro as a person as well as a chef. We left with full tummies, well satisfied and friends. We hope that our paths cross again in Italy or possibly a trip for Alessandro and his girlfriend to California. If you book a food experience with Alessandro I can tell you right now you won't be disappointed. Bon appetit as they say!
This was the best experience in Italy I had the entire time I was there. We had dinner with Tony on our last night in Rome. His house is so cute and he uses fresh herbs and fruit to incorporate into his meals which is really great. Tony's food was so so incredible, it was such an honor to eat with him and to learn some of his culture just through the food. He paired the dinner with a great red wine that complimented every course he brought out. All of the food was absolutely wonderful and cooked to perfection, but my favorite dish was the pasta he made with pecorino cheese, pepper, and pork's cheek. It was so delightful. Tony himself is so wonderful and really personable and kind. He was a little shy at first, but he warmed up very quickly and then was very fun to talk to. We also had another man join us from the UK and he was also lovely to talk to! I liked how Tony added another person to our group so that there was more diversity and it was really enjoyable meeting two people from another country and really getting to know them in the three hours we had dinner. Tony was truly a joy to be around, and like I said, his food was amazing and that dinner alone was hands down, the best part about my trip to Italy. I highly recommend doing this. Tony also has a little cottage for five people that he rents out which is awesome, and next time I am in Rome I am going to stay there!
This was probably the highlight of our dining experiences in Rome. We had made arrangements thru BonAppetour. BonAppetour lets you discover amazing food experiences and events. They offer everything from food tours, cooking classes, bar crawls, dinner parties, and much more. This was our first time using We read thru the listings on their website for Rome and chose Alessandro, who was offering a truly Roman feast overlooking the Vatican City. Alessandro is a personal chef and sommelier. It was very easy to make these arrangements with him online. He was extremely responsive to our every question. We knew we were in for a real treat, and he did not disappoint us. He really paid attention to our requests and prepared a dinner for us that perfectly suited our tastes. BonAppetour, and we were so pleased. We will definitely try them again in other cities around the world. He gave us wonderful directions to his home. (We were able to take a bus from our apartment to his home.) We were warmly greeted by Alessandro, who we will now call Tony, because we are friends forever. It was a lovely evening so we dined al fresco on a delightful, covered patio. He even had a heater in the event it got cold. Since it was just the two of us and Tony, we sat for a while and got to know each other. We were thrilled to learn how he became a chef and sommelier. He offered us a white wine called Trebbiano from the Sant’Andreas Winery (about 1-1/2 hours south of Rome), which he explained was one of his favorites and he was so surprised to learn that we had visited that same winery three days previously. Tony is the consummate chef – he is really into making his guests have a wonderful food experience. He makes everything and uses the freshest, local, seasonal ingredients available. Our dinner started with bruschetta (a crunchy bread with tomatoes) – a perfect start. This was followed by a delicious risotto with artichokes. Artichokes were in season, and this risotto was light and full of flavor. What made this dinner even more special was that Tony dined with us. We were delighted when Tony’s girlfriend joined us - we really enjoyed the stimulating conversations. Our main course was delicately prepared chicken slices in an orange sauce accompanied by a fennel salad with oranges. The dessert for us was a banana cake with strawberries – a terrific finish to a perfect meal. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Ah, but we were not finished. Their final act of kindness was to present us with Limoncello made from the lemon trees growing right next to where we were seated. If you come to Rome and want to have a unique dining experience, book an evening with Alessandro. You will not be disappointed. We had a great time!
A great highlight of my trip to Rome! I enjoyed a wonderful 5 course meal with Alessandro (Tony) and a lovely family of 3 also visiting Rome. This is a great way to connect with other tourists. Tony is a considerate host; from the dinner setting outside in his garden, to the pairing of wine with food, to the conversation and stories of Rome. He really ensures you a great evening. The food is divine and dont miss out on the limoncello! Best i had in Rome. Thanks again Tony!
Book a food experience with Alessandro and you will not be disappointed. He and his partner Elena give you a special evening with all home made food. Even the limoncello at the end he makes from his own citrus tree. Delicious it was, I never drink this liquor but I really enjoyed. As he is a sommelier too, he finds the best wine with the food. This evening a special wine that grows near the sea so it has a very little salty taste. It was perfect with the hole dinner. Alessandro explained the special Roman food he makes while I watched every now and then in the kitchen seeing him cook. Elena joined at the table and took part in the conversation about all kind of topics. I could understand most of the Italian they spoke to me, but for me I was better to speak in English because I had only 5 days Italian lessons. It was very intimate as if we were already good friends and when I came home there were already the email with pictures from the evening and links to good restaurants and other places for example where tot go to a nice beach. I really enjoyed everything this evening!! Thank you both. Hylkia from Holland.
