ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

Do you like Japanese food and have you ever thought to cook Japanese at home? If so, you are in the right place!

Since living in the Netherlands, I came across different cooking channels showing how to cook some Japanese dishes. However, with my Japanese eyes, it looks everything but Japanese, from the choice of ingredients to the cooking technique. This makes me a little sad as I imagine that some people might end up not liking Japanese food just because they didn't have the chance to taste a Japanese meal rightly prepared.

If you are interested in cooking Japanese at home, then relax and be my guest. Japanese daily food, like any other food, is very easy to cook if you know the basics. I would like to share with you 4 basic dishes with simple variations that you can serve as part of a meal at home.

ABOUT THEMENU

Learn one of the following 4 basics of Japanese food and their common variations. Together we will go through the ingredients, the recipe, the technique. and once done, we will eat together:
- Sushi rice to make makizushi and chirashizushi
- Perfect Japanese rice to serve with your meals and make onigiri
- Classic miso soup and Japanese omelet
- Okonomiyaki with meat or with seafood

ABOUT THELOCATION

We live in Rotterdam about 5 minutes on foot from Centraal Station. We can be reached by bus, train, tram, metro and car as their are plenty of parking lots around.

We joined Ryo and Claire in their lovely apartment in Central Rotterdam for a Japanese cooking class. They were very accommodating of our requests ahead of the class and were able to be creative to accommodate our vegetarian requirements. Ryo and Claire were excellent hosts and made us very welcome in their home. The class was very informative and we learned a lot about quality Japanese products as well and new techniques and recipes. A really excellent experience, which we higky recommend.

Crossing Rotterdam, I decided to try an exotic experience for a while at Ryo's and Claire's. More than expected, wonderful tastes and experiments such as rolling takoyakies or challenging them to anafuda awaited me in this very comfortable place ! I definitively cannot do anything but recommending this address provided by really welcoming people ! ありがとうございました。 Claire & Ryo :-)

Hi Ryo ! I've got the oppotunity to eat your Japanese cooking such as Takoyaki, very soft roast pork or maki, and I've been delighted by the excellent taste of your food. I've received a very good welcome and will be very pleased to repeat this experience. Thank you so much for all. Ghislaine.
