We are an inter-racial couple from two corners of the world. She is an actress/English teacher/yoga and belly dance enthusiast. He is a guitarist/music producer/wildlife photography enthusiast. We love being together outdoors in Nature, traveling, hiking, museum-hopping, sagra-sampling and whatnot, and being indoors in the kitchen delving into one of our biggest passions - cooking. We believe we were brought together by a mysterious force so that we could share our passion for food and cultures with others. We cook Italian, Asian and Mediterr-Asian, our own hybrid of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. We believe that cooking, like travelling, unravels one's imagination and the food we serve is 100% Caretto creativity da il cuore.

This was a most amazing experience. We came with our 13 year old grandson who was really the reason we chose this option. It was beyond our expectations. Matheo and Nadia were welcoming and fun, and treated us, but in particular our our grandson in a the way that he could understand and follow the various steps in making pasta from and desert from scratch. He was in 7th heaven. Not to mention to the relaxed, friendly, interesting and fun conversation around dinner table, and their warmth. We are unanimous in recommending Nadia and Matheo with enthusiasm.

I had a great day with Nadia on our food tour of Prati! We walked and talked and visited many small spots I might have just walked by. She pointed out places I might want to try during the rest of my stay in Rome. She is a wealth of information and fun to be with too. She also helped me with many Italian phrases , an added bonus! Thank you Nadia for a such a fun day!

Our pasta cooking class at the Caretto's home was way beyond our expectations! We loved learning how to make pasta and sauce, and we learned about the ingredients that make Italian food so good. Matteo even taught us his grandma's recipes! We loved all the food served, but mostly enjoyed meeting the Carettos and learning first hand about Italian culture. What a lovely couple and a wonderful experience.

We spent the day with the Caretto's in October and we had a magnificent time! We had been looking for a way to get to Tuscany without renting a car and we didn't want a bus tour with a regulated schedule. We also had discovered through a YouTube video that there were folks opening their homes for a true Roman meal. Nadia and Matteo gave us the opportunity to do both in one shot. We met at a Metro station in Rome and were whisked away into Tuscany. After a great drive and conversation, getting to know each other, we stopped for a lovely lunch in a small, local eatery, overlooking the Tuscan countryside. It was like something out of a movie. Nadia and Matteo worked with the owner in helping us select from the menu; and wow, it was incredible - so decadent. After lunch, we went to the first of three wineries. Being October, we felt fortunate to be the only ones in each winery! Nadia and Matteo made sure we were well taken care of and able to taste and buy some amazing wines! Our last stop was my favorite - it was dusk when we arrived. We went into the tasting room, which felt like their family room. Being late October, it was olive harvesting time, and the winery owner also produced olive oil. She treated us to a tour of the olive oil production and filled a bottle of oil for us to take home. Her mother also brought us some of the ragu she had just made for their family's dinner. What an experience! It was a unique, very special day and it didn't end there. We drove back, under a nearly full moon, to Nadia and Matteo's home where they served us an amazing dinner to finish off the night. We couldn't have asked for a better day! Thank you so much to both of you! We can't wait to be back in Italy!

I was traveling to Rome for a family vacation over the US Thanksgiving Holiday. When I travel, I like to try to experience the city like a local would. I'm so happy I came across the Carlettos! They are the perfect couple to host; very sweet, welcoming, and knowledgable people. The class started with a tour of and shopping at a local market for the ingredients of the day's menu. They have established relationships with several of the vendors at the market, which made for a more warm and welcoming experience. Their apartment was not far away from the market. It was a cozy apt that displayed their love for music and culture (I live in NYC in what feels like a closet at times, so their apartment was large to my standards). We made the pasta from hand and learned about the various flours and foods used to make dishes. It was really fun! Oh, and the wine was GREAT! We stayed a little longer than the timeframe noted but they were so gracious to entertain us. They were even helpful towards the end of our stay in Rome when looking for a pharmacy in the area. A lovely couple that I would definitely book again. Oh, and the desert was amazing - it was kind of like a cheesecake topped with a fruit I've never had but wish was back in the States - a grape strawberry. YUM!
