“Wow, I would have never found this place on my own”.
That’s what our tour is for! We introduce you a food and ancient eateries that you are not going to find anywhere else.
Everything you will taste is made with organic or locally sourced ingredients, that we had meticulously selected by being the best in the city.
And along our way, you visit old traditional eateries and you meet the families that work hard to preserve the city’s food traditions.
We stop in an awarded bistrot and the chef will teach you how to make the most popular Roman recipe.
Ending the tour at an exceptional gourmet gelateria, your guide will inform you on essential tips to ensure that you will make the most of every day while in Rome.
* If you have any special requests over and above what we will be seeing, I'll be happy to personalize your tour for you!
The tour is held in Trastevere, a charming medieval neighborhood with a fiery temperament. A stroll around Trastevere, a formerly working-class district, busy with locals in the morning and with a heady nightlife, will take you away from the crowds. Trastevere is considered to be the heart of the traditional Roman cuisine. Here, we will experience the tradition of small family run gems, while getting to know great chefs who reinterpreted the Roman cuisine with refinement and taste.
BITES OF ROME was started by my passion in good, healthy and fair food. Born and raised in Rome, I
This was an amazing experience (one of the main highlights of our entire Italy trip) and I suggest it to anyone that is travelling to Rome! Our guide, Nicole, was so passionate about the food, history and culture in Rome. It was infectious! She was extremely knowledgeable and provided the history of a couple different places that we passed while walking. She was also very personable and shared her personal life experiences while living in Rome. It was like spending the afternoon with an old friend! This is a must-do activity!
Andrea was simply amazing. His openness, love for food, and attention to detail was contagious. He clearly is not faking it, his knowledge and love for the art of food making was clear and illuminating. My wife and I went on the food tour of trastavere and testachio with 'the eating Italy' food tours and found there service to be more complete and developed. Also, both times we left their tours, we both were very full and not hungry. The portions on your tour were about half of what we had in the other tour. Because of that, I felt that the value was not as good. However, Andrea was much better than the guides on the other tour, who seemed to just have a packaged presentation. I hope this feedback helps.
My husband and I toured the Trastevere area of Rome with Jennifer who grew up outside of Rome and is very knowledgeable about typical Roman and local Italian cuisine. This tour was the highlight of our trip and we highly recommend taking it! Best to take it near the beginning of your trip because Jennifer will leave you with a list of best places to get different types of food. There are 2 other people who share the business with Jennifer who also do this food tour. We took the night tour and it was such a magical evening. Go ahead and book this tour. You will be so glad you did!!!!
We were part of a small group who did a tour of the Trastevere area with Jennifer. It was perfect, lots of local products and interesting insights into the food of Rome! Definitely a must do on your arrival in Rome as it will really help you enjoy the rest of your stay if you know more about where and what to eat! There were several stops where we sampled pizza by the slice, hams and cheeses, artisanal cookies, olive oils and fried artichokes! Perfect for our first night in Rome!
My family and I had an awesome time on this tour. We got to try the best food in Rome and explore the city. Jennifer was amazing and so knowledgable. Definitely do on you're first or second day in Rome so you know where to eat for the remainder of your stay.
Our guide, Jennifer, was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the local food in the Travestere region. We went to a cheese shop, a pizza shop, a meat shop, a gelateria and a bakery. The food was great and it was nice learning about the culture and history of Roman cuisine. Would highly recommend to anyone who would like a local food experience!
