The home kitchen was my childhood playground. I was always helping my mom and dad in preparing meals for the family and guests. I grew up savouring Malay and asian home cooked meals; nasi lemak, curry dishes, asam pedas fish, lodeh lontong and soto ayam are a few examples. Some of the recipes are passed down from generations. Most of my independent cooking started when I studied abroad at University of Queensland, from 2000 to 2002. I cooked asian dishes for my roommates and Aussie friends. I have also learned to bake pies, from an English friend and enjoyed Aussie barbeque along the Brisbane River. The love for barbequed food has not stopped since. One of my favourite eat out with family and friends would be a barbeque session at Changi Sailing Club. I host 'open-house' for friends and relatives during festive seasons and events. I served variety of dishes, to my multi racial guests. I use local ingredients, exquisite spices and herbs in the dishes. While my wife enjoys cooking traditional asian cuisine, I ventured into international cuisine; serving pasta, mediterranean and european dishes to our guests. Not to mention the fun cooking classes which my wife and I share with our interested guests. In cooking and enjoying meals, I have created bonds between people from all walks of life. That is the spice of life.

A man who puts his passion in his cooking. I was lucky to witness first hand the ingredients he use and the cooking process. He uses fresh and quality ingredients. I don't know much about cooking and he was willing to explain to me at length the ingredients used and his cooking methods. I even learnt some quick tips about cooking. The dish that was served to me was named Gourmet Nasi Lemaq. It was a bold and adventurous move by the chef himself. It consists of rosemary and thyme marinated chicken, a turkey ham egg cup, yellow rice, sambal, blended zucchini and a savoury rice batter for waffle. The presentation was sublime and the dish ambrosial. Definitely a lot of love was put in the cooking. The warm hospitality and the engaging conversation at the dinner table was an added bonus.

I must say that he can cook a variety of dishes from local to mediterranean cuisines. I had a pleasant lunch at his humble home. He made us feel so welcomed that we stayed over throughout the day.

Razib cooks delicious mediterranean dishes which he adds his own twist to the ingredients. He serves these dishes in clay pots and targine- very authentic! The spices are mild; not overwhelming for the tummy and the pleasant fragrance compliments the delicious taste! Yummzzz...
