The world of wine is rich, nuanced, and goes far beyond red pairs with meat and white with fish. Join me, a certified-sommelier, chef, and Rome local for an evening that introduces you to four wines from various Italian regions.
Along with each wine’s history and background, you’ll learn how a great bottle can make or break a meal (for example, that Prosecco you’re planning on bringing home tastes great with fried appetizers but entirely different with carbonara…); taste dishes and snacks that pair well with your selected wines; and ask everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Italy’s wine culture.
Your future dinner parties will never be the same.
I live a short distance away from the Vatican City and St.Peter's, in a beautiful, quiet and cozy neighbourhood. The way to my apartment is filled with cobblestoned pathways and beautiful old houses. As it is also on a hill, you can catch a glimpse of the Roman skyline, over the Vatican City.
In the summer and when the weather is beautiful, we can have dinner in my well kept garden where you can see and smell the herbs I will use for your dishes and the lemon tree that I use for my homemade limoncello!
This was the greatest Experience. Simply put! It was our topic of conversation and the measure of all things. WONDERFULL.
We had a wonderful evening with Alessandro and his girlfriend Elena at their home. The dinner was excellent, and paired with a very tasty red wine. Alessandro even prepared a birthday cheesecake for my little sister, and we sang happy birthday to her! It was so much fun chatting with Alessandro and Elena about Italy, and also learning about their many interests and projects. They are a very creative, friendly, and talented couple! We highly recommend this experience for anyone traveling through Rome, especially after a long day exploring the Vatican Museum. Next time we visit Rome, we hope to see them again!
We had an amazing experience with Alessandro. The food was fantastic, the wine was a perfect match, and the company was great. We loved everything about the evening. Grazie Mille!
Fantastic experience with Alessandro and Elena! Alessandro is an amazing chef and there are both fantastic hosts. He prepared authentic Roman dishes and also definitely knows his wine. A must-try when in Rome.
I can't say enough about the incredible evening we had at Alessandro's home. From the moment we walked through his white gate, we were transported to a magical place, which was a combination of his beyond compare hospitality, simply gorgeous setting and the most delicious/exquisite meal we have had on our entire vacation. (Which is saying a LOT as we are now on a cruise through Greece, Turkey and the Amalfi coast. When I asked my husband what has been the highlight of our trip so far (we have visited Santorini, Mykonos, Athens and, of Rome) his immediate response was meeting Alessandro and the amazing evening. I doubt there is a better choice in Rome as he is not only a professional chef but a phenomenal sommelier as well. Sitting on his beautiful terrace, dining on the most scrumptious meal, paired with absolutely perfect wines and phenomenal company (his girlfriend is a sweetheart) and then to be treated to his homemade limoncello (made with the lemons from his lemon tree right there on the terrace)... I don't need to say anymore, I'm sure you get the entire picture! There truly are no words to adequately describe this incredible experience, you simply MUST have it for yourself! We actually talked about returning to Rome just to have dinner with Alessandro again! He deserves 10 stars!!!! I have already recommended him to some friends that are going to spend a few days in Rome after the cruise.
Local dishes and wine, good company, pleasant surroundings. A good way to get to understand Rome and Romans.
What a delightful time my family spent with Alessandro and Elena on Christmas Eve. Our party of 16 was treated to a delicious meal and true Italian hospitality. Overall, most of the group said that dinner was the highlight of the vacation.
Alessandro was a wonderful host! We had an adventure navigating the little curvy streets to get to his cozy home. Our group of 8 dined with 3 other guests, who were lovely. Alessandro fully explained the menu he would prepare and his passion for local cuisine was apparent. We had three courses plus some holiday cakes (pannetonne) and chocolate for dessert. The main course was an orange chicken with fennel/Olive/orange salad. It was spectacular. With dinner, we had local red and white wine. After dessert, Alessandro served his homemade limencello. It was divine! I highly recommend dinner with Alessandro if you are looking for an authentic Roman experience. We hope to visit again!
Don't miss a delightful evening in Rome with Chef and Sommelier Tony and his marvelous food. It was so enjoyable having fresh food with healthy preparations that tasted so decadent. What a beautiful patio setting on a beautiful October evening and fun to share it with new friends from Chicago. Thanks so much for making our experience in Rome special.
Allesandro was very friendly and informative. He ensured we could easily locate his apartment. We enjoyed eating outside in the garden. I especially enjoyed the wonderful Pasta anchovy primi course he made. It was so subtly flavored and the herbs were his own organic home grown. The wine pairing with dinner was perfect. We got an education about the wines and foods and what is typical in Rome. This was a unique experience.
We absolutely loved the hospitality and delicious, authentic Roman feast prepared by Alessandro. The private dining experience provided by AlessNdro and his wonderful wife was very intimate and informative for first timers to Rome. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to indulge in local, authentic Roman food and to attain first hand knowledge of Italy, the culture and local experience.
