The ancient palazzo, where I’m living in, is unique. Explore the channel, courtyard and my apartment!
I love people who are interested in a secret Venice - the Venice of its palaces and their inhabitants and authentic Venetian food. No one is a tourist in my eyes. I am genuine just like my food.
The palace I'm living in is also home of many artists and having dinner together always brought them good luck! So , welcome artists ! But I also befriend couples and friends on their holidays in Venice, and you are more than welcome at any time.
Stories of the sea and seamen and art are my favorite topics, Venice is art. I do enjoy learning, too and therefore listening!

ABOUT THEMENU

My menu is based on fresh fish from local market.
An aperitif served with typical Venetian "chichetti" are a must, followed by the best hand-made pasta with fresh fish. Let's go on with some fish "al forno", stuffed calamari, cuttlefish and polenta, and a good wine. I'm growing fresh vegetables , of course bio. ...and tiramisu or panna cotta?
Peppers stuffed with chickpeas,"masenete"(special crabs from adriatic sea),"caponata" a mix of fantastic vegetables ,"sarde in saor"a tipical way to cooking sardines of Venice's ancient seaman ,artichokes ,handmade pasta whit asparagus and a good wine(the bread and focaccia are also homemade!!)

This experience is ideal for anyone interested to learn about authentic Venetian culture, through food, and stories. Whether you are a couple on honeymoon, or a family or a group of friends travelling together, I am sure you will enjoy learning about my land and tasting my food.

What a great experience! A small group of strangers met on a bridge in Venice. We were whisked through a few alleyways to the home of our host, Massimo who had been working through the day to prepare the delicious feast that awaited. A few get to know you's and we were in to the feast: Scallops in a tomato based sauce a mixed plate of fresh anchovies, cod mousse and salad with homemade foccacia fresh lagoon fish seafood strozapetti (amazing!) Tiramisu The quality of the food was up there with the best we had in Venice (ate at some very well regarded restaurants). Massimo is a great host. Telling stories of family, and adventures. The best part of a magnum of his grandfathers wine was consumed. A delicious cabernet franc. and 6 courses had us rolling out of there, full as fools. I'd highly recommend a night with Massimo.

Review written by my lovely & talented dining partner, Maria... Authentic food, good conversation, unparalleled atmosphere, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'd admit I didn't know what to expect when we booked this experience. It was our first through BonAppetour, during our first international vacation together. Being a wary sort, I waited nervously in the piazza where Massimo asked us to meet him, wondering what we'd gotten ourselves into. But just as soon as he appeared, with his hair loose and a ready smile, and led us to his 650-year-old palazzo, I relaxed. I realized we were in for a treat. Massimo led us through the labyrinthine path and up some stairs to his place. The table was set simply, and we were invited to sit. He served us wine his father had made, and after short introductions, the food started coming. Fresh and tasty, every plate was served up with a story and a smile both by Massimo and the friend who was assisting him that night, Ariele. Dish after dish was passed around: fish, fresh vegetables prepared in unique ways, delicious sides. (One of the members of another party said of Massimo's tomato salad, "I don't like tomatoes, but these tomatoes are my favorite thing."). As he began to pass yet another round of food, Massimo joked, "Americans, forget about the anchovy in the can," serving us the quintessentially Venetian dish and asking us to keep an open mind. I was skeptical but, boy, did he open my mind. I can still taste their lemony, fresh goodness. I'll be searching for a dish to rival it in freshness and flavor for a long time. Course after course was filled with surprises and an explosion of flavors. He accommodated my need for gluten-free variations with ease and good nature. (Side note: if you're gluten-free, don't be afraid to ask for gluten-free options in Italy. They're amazing just about everywhere). If the experience had only been about the excellent food, I'd still recommend it wholeheartedly. But it was about so much more. Massimo regaled us with tales of his seafaring, and we talked easily about many topics, including art, cooking and local history. It was a rare and special evening. If you're looking for a unique experience in a magical city, look no further.

Wonderful time with the “seaman”! The dinner was stepping out of the comfort zone for my friends and the final outcome for doing that was remarkable. It was a pleasure to get to dine with this very charismatic gentleman and the stories he offered were fun and insightful. Oh, and of course the food was good! Thank you for a special evening!

Massimo shared recipe & cooking tips on all of the delicious foods he served.  Our group started the evening as strangers and left as friends.
