We will meet in Poble Sec, a cozy neighbourhood well known by locals for its great variety of pintxos, a food tradition from Northern Spain.
For our first stop, to start your culinary journey we have chosen a friendly bar that fusions the Mediterranean food heritage with creative new flavours. Enjoy these tastings with our world renowned Spanish champagne, called Cava. The hints of sparkling pear and lime from the Cava produces a beautiful pairing with the myriad of flavours found on this local gem spot.
In few steps we go from Northern to Southern Spain to try one of the most popular tapas, the famous patatas bravas, spicy potatoes: the best proofs of our Moorish heritage showing a delicious combination of spices. In our second stop we offer our local Macabeo grape varietal: feel the refreshing acidity, the green fruit flavours reminding of green apple and pear. These grapes will transport you to where they were grown, to the cooler vineyards in the Pyrenees mountains.
Your food journey across Spain continues in a short walk to the Sant Antoni neighbourhood, one of the current culinary hot spots districts of Barcelona. Along the way, take the chance to marvel at the recently refurbished Mercat de Sant Antoni, a beautiful food and flea market which dates back to the roman era of Barcelona.
In our third stop we invite you to taste the Valencian cuisine in a modern restaurant where the menu follows the seasonal availability of ingredients. Expect great flavours paired in complete harmony with our world recognised wine growing region, La Rioja. Taste a robust full-bodied Tempranillo, a red wine with hints of bright cherries and strawberries, notes of vanilla-oak and sweet-spices.
The fourth stop is another real treat, a beautiful and typical Spanish-styled bodega, where locals were used to buy wine directly from the barrel and nowadays is the meeting point for all wine lovers. We invite you to try Catalan food, with a selection of regional charcuterie joined with the famous “Pan amb tomaquet”, a tomato based toast with genuine olive oil. Combine it with a full bodied red wine from Ribera del Duero, a region where the extreme climatic conditions and a silty soil creates a robust, higher alcoholic and fuller bodies wines.
Our round trip across Spain ends with the perfect final stop, a local place where we cheer with a glass of Sherry, a millennial sweet wine coming from the southern city of Jerez. In over 3.000 years, this wine has travelled from Lebanon to Greece to put strong roots in southern Spain. Taste smooth notes of fig, coffee, dried fruits and nuts enriched by a typical Catalan cheese, a soft cheese served with honey. A perfect ending to a complete introduction to the Spanish regional cuisines and it’s wines.

Loved this tour as had a nice walk through the streets of Barcelona that I may never have found if I had not done this. The Tapas and wine were spot on and very different from the ones that you get in the tourist places. Javier was brilliant as our host and he only has a maximum of 10 people on the tour so allows everyone to get to know each other. We did 4 tapas bars and a trip to the market and all of the places were very different and chosen with care. At the end Javier then gives you a recommendation of places to go in Barcelona. We also dropped into a chocolate shop on the way to the last bar which was spot on especially the taster of the Mojito and Almond chocolate. Never felt rushed at all and very generous portions of food and wine. Would highly recommend. Target audience I would say would be couples and groups of friends.
We did the Michelin food tour with our guide Javier and it was honestly one of the best things we did while visiting Barcelona. We went to 2 very different restaurants that represented different regions of Spain and tried many different tapas paired with regional wines which were just outstanding. Javier was very knowledgeable in explaining all the complexities of the Spanish cuisine in a very friendly and interesting way. Also at the end of the tour, we received many personal recommendations from our guide to eat around town which we followed throughout our stay. It was a great start to our holidays in Barcelona, would definitively recommend doing one of his tours!
We took the Barcelona food and wine tour- guided by Javier. It was an amazing experience and we learned about all the different types of tapas and wines of Spain. We explored some really interesting neighborhoods that were off the beaten path and tried lots of local tapas. Overall delicious food and an amazing guide !!
My wife and I took this tour and we had such an amazing time! Our tour guide Javier was very knowledgable and he gave us a lot of information about the local food. He also provided us with some history of Barcelona which was very interesting. All the tastings of both food and regional wines were exceptional. Also our small-group tour made more personal. At the end our group ended up being friends and we followed some of Javier's local recommendations for the remainder of our stay. We definitely recommend taking this tour to get a general understanding of the local food scene of Barcelona!
