I am a menber of bonappetour in Osaka Japan . Through this site, I could find the best host when I traveled to Portugal. First , Giovanni suggested me to meet up with easy way, so we could meet up without any trouble. He was afraid of for me, because I was quite a stranger in Lisbon. He treated me very kind and friendly. In his neat stylish apartment, we started an enjoyable cooking experience. He showed all ingredients which they were very fresh, then we cooked together. He cooked speedy and skillful. Within an hour, he almost finished all preparation. As a same cooking host , I was really interested and learned a lot. During the food well simmered, his friend joined us and enjoy talking. Every moment I felt relaxed and excited. Finally, Giovanni gave us seats in a beautiful table setting room and started our dinner. Serving red wine with cheese and bread, we had a special excellent dinner. ⑴ Marinated boiled partridge and sliced carrot and onion. ⑵ Salad with tuna, boiled beans, sliced small onion and coriander ⑶ Mashed potato and onion soup with chorizo ⑷ Bacalhau stew with sliced paprika, onion, tomato and potato ⑸ Dessert pudding with raspberry and home made cookie & espresso ⑹ At the end Porto wine It was an unforgettable special dinner of our last night in Lisbon. Of course our highlight of this travel! Why can you leave Lisbon without having this exciting experience !? Big thanks for Giovanni and his friend ! Big thanks for bonappetour! Yoshiko(*^^*)

What a great host Giovanni is! We had the best meal of our trip at Giovanni's for sure. He is located very centrally and we walked 15 minutes from our hotel near the Rossio train station. He was very conscientious making sure we knew exactly how to get there by communicating with us in the days leading up to our dinner. Giovanni is a professional in the food industry and dinner was simply amazing. We started with the *best* cod cakes I've ever had. We had tried cod cake elsewhere in Lisbon but nothing compared to Giovanni's. They blew everything else away. He had made fresh foccacia, fresh duck liver pate, grilled veggies with amazing cilantro pesto, and octopus tempura and octopus with rice (traditional Portuguese dish). AND dessert, AND cookies... we were so stuffed! Best meal in Portugal and he is such a lovely host I can't recommend him enough!

Giovanni is a fantastic host, a great chef and an amazing person to hang with, being at his place for dinner makes you feel like being with a friend. He takes such a good care of his guests in every single detail: the styling, the recipies, the wine, the background music...just perfect! He can skilfully mix traditions and cultures and the results is a joy for your mouth, the food experience you will remeber.

I have been Giovanni's guest many time and I have always had amazing dining experiences. From grocery shopping (I was lucky to go with him to the fish market) to the table, dining at Giovanni's is like having a private chef of a 5 star restaurant. Dishes range from traditional to creative: if you are a food enthusiast you can follow Giovanni in his cooking adventures. Wine is always perfectly paired and there is always dessert. Portions are balanced so that you will have all the courses without feeling that you have sinned too much. Unfortunately I live in New York, otherwise I would probably ask him to host dinner every night!

I'm Filipino and based in Dubai. I have been living abroad for almost 15 years. My line of business allows me to choose the best restaurant, the best clubs, best venues in UAE for my clients. It made me a critic for all related stuff to hospitality. To its extent to food and drinks. My work and my passion to travel has brought me to explore, if I am not mistaken, 70 countries already. Not much, but substantial enough for me to claim my best cities. And this is based on my personal criteria which is the landscape of the city and the local attributes. Whenever I visit a city I have 3 main goals to achieve; 1) the first and foremost, to explore the sights and sounds, 2.) the night life, and 3.) the food. I met Giovanni through a friend and I was acquainted that he has been into cooking or food related passion. He is Italian and has been living in Lisbon for so long. I have visited him several times whenever I am in Lisbon and here you go... this Italian hospitality always bring us to the table. Mind you, from a casual dining to a very elaborated dining experience, Giovanni always amazes me with his continuous exploration of different recipes. It may be of generalization but I think a bigger part of his cooking influence is his Italian ancestors - what can i say more. Of course, you can't go wrong with pasta, cheese, and the minimum 4 course menu when you are at his home. But I think the twist is greater, having lived in Portugal for so long makes him more versatile and explorative in his cooking. I considered Portugal as one of the places that you can eat proper food, I mean, lots of variety and choices. It is probably one of my top three in Europe. Giovanni has got this flare of picking up and enjoying what is local cooking. The exposure to different variety of cooking, real cooking, so to say and the inherent passion makes this guy up for a go-to experience for a local mixed with Mediterranean cooking when you are in Lisbon. And wait, good food always come with great wine - Italian and Portiguese? To die for...can't wait to visit him again soon!
