From deep fried bugs in Thailand to roast camel at a wedding in Xinjiang to starfish on a stick in China (Not to mention the mystery meats thrown on the barbecue grills in the backstreets of Beijing... I've done them all and lived to tell the tale!!! And I'm always game to try something new!!!

As we ascended the walk-up stairs, our nasal cavities were welcomed to the homely aromatics of caramlised onions, garlic, cinnamon and other familiar smells of home. As soon as we rang the door bell, we were welcomed by a kittenish lady with flowing Rapunzel-esque locks, a pretty face and curious eyes, hidden behind large gray spectacle frames. She showed us in and sat us down on her handsome sofa. We were each offered an apero and found ourselves amused by two very charming Scottish Folds while our bubbly host busied herself with the finishing touches to the meal she was going to present us with. No sooner was her mission complete, she directed us to our seats at the table, popped open the second round of drinks and then gingerly presented us with Curry Debal, Feng, Beef Smore and Pineapple Prawns. As she laid each dish on the table, she provided a vivid history of how each one came to be both historically and locally, along with little nuggets of anecdotes - we felt Eurasian at the table. For most foodies, a food review details everything and nothing else about the food. We aren't foodies, but we decided to embark on this teeny epicurean tour simply because our curiosity got the better of us. "What is Eurasian Food?" Ask anyone on the street and they'd tell you, "Oh, I don't know." Well, not with this Eurasian "Appetour". Our eyes have been opened and our taste buds have been well satiated. We would gladly try it again!
