The food truck movement started here in Los Angeles when Chef Roy Choi and his Kogi BBQ trucks introduced Korean BBQ meats to tacos and burritos within a Mexican-American lunch truck setting. Experience a uniquely Angeleno culinary experience without having to stand in line outside a bar. Service will be family style, all you can eat, within a cozy, art-filled apartment.

ABOUT THEMENU

Homemade salsa and guacamole with organic corn chips
Korean BBQ tacos with organic, non-GMO tortillas (meat and vegetarian fillings)
Refried beans
Orange, cardamom flan or fruit salad for dessert

Additional charge of $10 for beer or wine pairing

ABOUT THELOCATION

Our apartment is located on the edge of Koreatown, about a mile from the Purple Line Metro and two blocks from the Rapid Bus Line on Wilshire. Koreatown is a 24-hour, vibrant ethnic enclave with the largest population of Koreans outside of Asia. It's also a very multi-cultural neighborhood with many Central Americans, Bangladeshis and other groups living close together in a very walkable, metropolitan atmosphere.

I have known Hae Jung since we shared our certification training as master food preservers; she's carrying on the tradition under the banner of Slow Food Preservers Los Angeles. No one knows more about kimchi and fermentation, and she was a professional cook for years before that. She's a great instructor for our SFPLA program and everyone who goes home with what they made under her tutelage will tell you how much better their products taste than restaurant or specialty market fare. Hospitality is key, the apartment is chock full of contemporary art. It's a cultured affair anytime you have the opportunity to be with her or dine with her.

Hae Jung taught me how to make kimchi. It has become a staple in my fridge. Her teaching skills are stellar. She is so obviously passionate about what she does. While teaching the preparation of the food, I also had the pleasure of learning a bit of Korean history. I would love to have Hae Jung prepare a meal in our home.

Hae Jung is an amazing cook! I'm so happy she shares her love of food, the Korean culture and art of cooking - have enjoyed so much I keep going back for more! Not only have I left her place with a delicious bottle of home made kimchi (napa and cucumber), sauerkraut, but left full from korean kimchi pancakes, figs and other goodness! Always love the conversations and learning more about preserving food and new things she has whipped up and is cultivating in her fridge/freezer :)
