Celebrating the vitality of local Roman ingredients, we show you how to prepare the freshest produce from the morning’s farmer’s market with classic Italian techniques and a few new tricks.
You’ll learn a number of vegetable dishes that can be used as starters, side dishes and dessert. And many of them can be tossed with pasta for a quick and tasty main course.
And also we even show you how to make traditional eggless pasta the way large parts of Italy still do today and have been doing since ancient times!
Throughout the class we will drink wine and munch on nibbles.
Then we sit down together to eat the fruits of our labour, swap stories and enjoy wonderful tastes of the vegetables of Rome.
View the Colosseum from our dining table and we'll also take you on the rooftop terrace for a cocktail and the best selfie in Rome.
We're in the Monti neighbourhood, which has many undiscovered gems we'll happily share with you.
You can very easily reach us with a metro station one minute away and taxis and busses always available.
Francesca and Ryan gave us a fantastic experience and I would 100% recommend it! Their home is a lovely place to spend an evening - clean, welcoming, amazing decor and unbelievable views of the Colosseum. The food was TO DIE FOR and easy to recreate - they sent us simple recipes after the class which we will use again and again! It turned out to be fantastic sharing the class with other fellow travellers, an unexpected opportunity to talk with people from around the world, and we felt really connected by the end of the evening. The best part was Francesca and Ryan's knowledge of Italian food, their explanation about the different regions, local dishes and ingredients, and where to buy things. We did the class near the start of our trip, so for the rest of our time in Italy we had a greater appreciation for the different names and variations of fresh produce and dishes by region, knew better what to expect as we travelled around and had fun relating our food experiences to what Francesca and Ryan had taught us! Francesca and Ryan not only welcomed us into their home, taught us a lot of new things and served us an incredible meal, they inspired us with their lives. They showed us it's possible to move to a new country, pursue a dream and build a life around your passions. We will always remember them and the night we spent at their apartment. One of our favourite experiences in Italy.
Our dinner and cooking class with Francesca and Ryan was the highlight of our week in Rome. We recently made fresh pasta and veggies with the recipes they taught us, and our friends back home were very impressed! The expertise, the conversation, the flavor, and the views were exceptional. We can't say enough about this experience!
Interesting cooking class and delicious meal in a beautiful apartment! These guys really know their stuff, and they made an effort for us to feel welcome and get a lot out of the experience. This was our first BA booking and it was awesome.
Francesca, Ryan, and I had such a lovely evening preparing and sharing this meal together. The food, the view, the company- all an unforgettable experience. We made so much good food, like 6 separate dishes, and I can't wait to make fresh vegan pasta and those cannellini beans again! If you have a passion for food, cooking, veganism, or adventure, you absolutely need to do this.
This dinner was by far the highlight of our trip to Rome. Everything was absolutely incredible!! Francesca was the sweetest host and we had a fantastic time getting to know her and exchanging laughs and conversation. The food was better than anything I've ever eaten––I swear. Each dish was prepared so thoughtfully with their own unique and amazing flavours. Francesca took the time to explain the history and cultural significance of each dish too:) Plus, all of the ingredients were fresh and locally sourced! The apartment was beautiful and the view of the colosseum is to die for. We still cannot stop talking about how fun and yummy this dinner was. If you are looking for good vegan food in Rome, and an exceptional roman experience with a great host, do yourself a favor and book a dinner with Francesca!
This was my first experience with BonAppetour, but Francesca and Ryan definitely set the bar. I was welcomed very warmly into their cosy home, located in the heart of Trastevere. Although I'm not vegan myself, I do enjoy eating vegetarian (mostly) and vegan (occasionaly). The dishes they prepared were not only bursting with flavour, but also beautifully presented. They even made an extra effort to make every course gluten free, especially for me. It's hard to choose my favourite dish of the night. I was crazy about the homemade crackers and I thought their own take on farinata, made into a lasagna was a winner. Between all this lovely food, conversation was very easy and touched topics ranging from healthy eating, history, poor service in cake shops, movies, yoga, mummies (yes mummies) etc. Time flew by and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I wish them the very best and I'm sure their passion for healthy food/living will take them far!
I had the pleasure of dining with Francesca and Ryan for a whole week when I visited them last September and it really opened my eyes to vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Like a lot of people I have, out of habit, been a big meat and dairy consumer for most of my life but I have started to examine this in recent months and Francesca and Ryan helped me do this not only by showing me delicious alternatives to animal based foods, but also by sharing the wealth of knowledge and nutritional information they have. They were happy to answer all of my questions in a really helpful and positive way. I now eat significantly less animal products and feel much happier for it. In such a meat and cheese eating culture as Italy it is hard to find good vegan and vegetarian food, so the fact that Francesca and Ryan are sharing their home, their food and their passion with other people is a great thing.
I'm not a vegan but Francesca's food is always so delicious and it inspires me to make changes in my own eating habits. Francesca and Ryan are very knowledgable about food and nutrition and it's interesting to learn about these things from them. They have really opened mine and my partners eyes to the huge health benefits from being vegan, and made us realise that we can still get all the things we want in our daily diets from the vegan lifestyle. I can not wait to try more lovely dishes that francesca has to make.
