ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

My name is Vivian, I am a Hong Kong native Chinese and live in the lovely Shing town of Sai Kung in the New Territories. I love to cook and am offering a chance for you to soak up our local culture by joining me on a tour of our local Wet Market.

On a sunny day, we can go to the open-air wet market in Choi Hung to soak in the busy atmosphere and get the most local cultural experience. On rainy days, we can check out the sheltered Lok Fu market, which also offers a wide range of fresh produce and local flavours. I will show you the wonderful fresh vegetables, seafood and other ingredients that I use in my Chinese cooking. I am a Cantonese teacher as well and can tell you all the Chinese names for the vast array of produce available. A way to impress your local Chinese supermarket seller on your return home!

After the market tour, we will take the minibus to go to my home in Sai Kung, where I will cook lunch or dinner for you with the ingredients we bought from the market! Sai Kung is a country side area & you can see stunning view with local culture. After a nice meal, you can enjoy hiking to see the other side of Hong Kong.

ABOUT THEMENU

I will cook classic Chinese dishes for you! The menu can be customized. I will change my menu every 3 months!
Minimum 4 guests. The tour and the meal will take 4 hours in total.

ABOUT THELOCATION

Choi Hung and Lok Fu are housing estates in the Wong Tai Sin District of Kowloon. The markets here are frequented by locals, and both feature extensive offerings of fresh cooking ingredients and groceries.

My home in Sai Kung, aka Hong Kong's back garden, is further out east. Being a seaside town, Sai Kung is famous for its seafood markets and beautiful beaches. After lunch, you can walk around the area and relax by the sea!
