ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

On Thanksgiving Day last year, Instagram was bombarded with hundreds of photos being posted every single second. This shows how popular food photography is at present as most of the pictures posted that day were of the Thanksgiving meal!During my career of over 50 years as a professional photographer, I have never been asked more questions about food photography than in the last few years, again showing the popularity of taking pictures of food. But food photography is simply too complex a subject to be covered in an email, blog post, or short ebook.

So I decided that if I wanted to really help these people take stunning food photos, I needed to design a short package, say 2-3 hours of one-to-one tutorial that brings together all the 'ingredients' of food photography, from cameras and lighting to food styling, scene composition, food props, to editing, and even social sharing in ways that gets your food photographs noticedWhat You’ll LearnBasic Food Photography is divided into 6 sections that are designed to build upon each other, giving you the skills you need to take delicious food photos…

Photo Shooting – Learn how to get the most from the equipment you have at present (from iPhone to DSLR) to take gorgeous, well-composed food photos every time.
Food Storytelling – Learn to give your pictures impact by telling a delicious story through the food and the scene you create.
Food Styling – If the food looks unappealing, so will your photos. Learn to style your food in ways that are photogenic to create stunning compositions.
Food Lighting - Which of the basic lighting techniques to use from a single window to multiple studio flashes.Image
Processing – The goal with food photos is to make them look realistic. This can be enhanced with 5 key editing effects that you’ll learn how to apply.
Sharing – Get recognition for your work by applying techniques that engage the social web around the delicious photos you’ve learned how to create.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is NOT for experienced photographers and food bloggers. I designed every element of the Food Photography Workshop to be immediately accessible to even the most amateur photographer. Whether you simply want to use your iPhone to take better Instagram pictures, or shoot pro-level photos at home, this course guides you through the principles that help you take rewarding food photos regardless of your equipment or experience. As long as you have access to a camera (iPhone, Point & Shoot, or DSLR) and a desire to learn, you’re good to go.You want to photograph your recipes but aren’t sure where to begin?

The Food Photography Workshop opens the door to so many possibilities, such as food blogging, Instagramming, as mentioned above, writing recipe e-books, product photography and more! It’s also a creative outlet and a fun way to play with colour and express your own style. Come along and get started with this practical introduction to food photography! There’s many a pitfall when it comes to photographing your food, which you might know if you’ve ever taken a quick snap of your favourite dish only for it to come out looking a little less appealing than you had in mind. Don’t worry though, it happens to the best of us. Getting your food to look as good as it tastes takes a little practice. The good news, though, is that with the right know-how it really can be simple. Here's the meal you will be served during the 2-3 hour Workshop.
