Ciao
Life is a combination of magic and pasta’. So said Federico Fellini and so say I! I believe that food is, and has always been, a way into a country’s or a region’s local culture. Having grown up in northern Tuscany, spent several years in Milan and then Matera in the south of Italy, and now living in Rome, I have a broad knowledge of the country’s many and varied wonderful dishes.
I meet people from many different cultures, but all are united by one thing – a love of food. I hope I can welcome you too into my little corner of Rome, where we can eat and enjoy a glass or two of wine together!
Garbatella, the Roman neighbourhood south-east of Testaccio,
It’s not far from San Pietro fuori le mure, the great Papal basilica, and it’s the home of Eataly: but these tend to be the only items that make it to the average traveller’s bucketlist.
In reality, Garbatella is a district that everyone should probably visit for its fascinating architecture and culture. Built at the turn of the last century, populated with Art Deco villas in a garden-city design,
I live in a more modern block in the shadow of Eataly and very close to the Acient appian way and Terme di Cracalla.
I started cooking lessons in my flat 5 years ago. The experience of teaching and hosting new people
We LOVED learning how to cook Pizza and Teramisu with Sandra. She was a wonderful host and awesome teacher. My fiancé and I had such a great time and the food was delicious. When we come back to Rome, we’d love to take another cooking lesson with Sandra.
Thrèe of us did a home cooking class with Sàndra as part of our trip through Italy in mid November. Sandrà is a great host and was very well orgànised. She explained what the cooking and preparation process involved and gave us all separate roles. At the end of the night we sat down to à 4 course meal with an nice glass of red. It tasted fantastic, especially the zucchini flower dish and antipasto. We all had a great evening and can highly recommend Sandra's class for àn entertaining meal.
Loved this so much! Sandra was a really great teacher - we made delicious food and we all sat down around the dinner table and enjoyed our meals with a bottle of wine. She also booked a taxi for us to get back home, which was very nice of her. This is a great way to make friends, too!
Sandra's cookery class was one of the best experiences we had whilst staying in Rome! Such delicious food and great knowledge learnt!! Sandra is so hospitable and welcoming. Now love making homemade pasta and have learnt cookery skills for life. Would reccommend to any foodie!
We had so much fun cooking at Sandra's house! She is interesting and fun to talk to, and very knowledgable on both her ingredients and food. She really made cooking fun, not to mention our meal turned out AMAZING! I would recommend this experience to anyone going to Rome. Thank you Sandra for the wonderful evening!
Our best evening during our trip in Rome! Sandra is really an expert in teaching, cooking and being an amazing host! This is the perfect way to learn AND taste some proper Italian local cuisine! She made us feel really welcome in her home. We made an amazing starter, artichoke, delicious pasta alla amatriciana, and finally tiramusi! For all the dishes, fresh local food & ingredients were used!
We had a wonderful time cooking a delicious 3 course meal with Sandra at home in her lovely kitchen. Under expert guidance we managed to producere a splendid starter, wonderful homemade pasta and a delicious dessert. All the while we talked and laughed and got wiser both about cooking, food and Rome. We highly recommend this opportunity and experience!
