ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

If you're planning a trip to Portugal, you can't skip its wine and fish. Portugal is faced to the ocean, a fact that offers this country a unique wine production and a gastronomy based on fishing traditions. In Lisbon you may find several restaurants and tastings. But why not search the authentic and genuine. Skip the crowded wineries of Setubal, and the aquaculture fish from trendy restaurants. Discover the genuine "Oeste" region, so close to Lisbon. Visit with me a local wine seller, taste ocean flavours and explore the medieval Óbidos village, considered the city of Literature by Unesco.

ABOUT THEMENU

This is the Menu Highlights:

- Visit to Montejunto Mountain
- Wine tour and tasting at Quinta do Gradil
- Lunch the best fish of the region
- Visit to Peniche and Carvoeiro Cape
- Seafood Tasting by the Ocean with sunset, or visit to Óbidos, considered the city of literature by Unesco

ABOUT THELOCATION

We'll first drive to Quinta do Gradil, located on the western foothills of the Serra de Montejunto. Here, you will be able to taste this region's wine. An atlantic wine, fruit of the same terroir that give us the Rocha pear from Oeste, the apple from Alcobaça, and the ginja from Óbidos.
You'llStart your wine experience by visiting the ruins of the palace and chapel, and looking to the wide range of beautiful vineyards. Next you will visit its winery and learn about the wine process. The wine tour ends on the tasting room where you will taste 4 selected wines.
Before heading to the ocean, we will drive to the top of Serra de Montejunto. There you may expect a breathtaking view of the "Oeste" region.
We will drive then 30 minutes to Peniche, one of the most iconic fishing towns in Portugal. Here, the fish is caught on a sustainable way, on small wooden boats, and with hand knitted nets.
It s lunch time, so we will go directly to a local fish restaurant. Don't expect luxuries. This is simple and authentic. You will not find paces like this in Lisbon.
After lunch, we will make a short walking tour through Carvoeiro Cape, one of the most western points of Continental Europe, and will visit Peniche and its fishing traditions.
At lunch time, and if the weather allows, we'll one of my favorite moments. My wife will help me preparing for you a simple seafood dish, on the rocks of a secret beach. Tasting the ocean, by the ocean, with the sunset.
If the weather does not help (the nature is always in charge), we choose between a seafood typical "Tasca" (Portuguese simple snack bar), or to visit Óbidos, a romantic, lovely and medieval village. This historical village, also considered the city of literature by Unesco, hides peculiar book shops and a yummy bakery cooking family recipes with more than 130 years old. And we can not escape the Ginja (typical cherry liquor) tasting in a chocolate cup. I know the best and the genuine one.
