#Cooking and hosting

Hi everyone, I am Del. I am a self-made cook. It all started with my Mum, who was a super cook. We had a large family - Dad, Mum and 6 siblings. So can you imagine cooking for all of us, plus entertaining guests in the weekends. Dad would always have his group of friends over at home on Saturdays and we would always have family at home on Sundays. Being the youngest in the family, I never got involved in the kitchen. I was never interested in cooking, but found pleasure in just indulging in the good food that was on the table everyday. After University, when I was on a trip to Malaysia with my then boyfriend. and 2 other friends, I tasted one particular dish that I never saw in Singapore - It was a white cabbage dish. I chewed it slowly to find what ingredients were added because i wanted to cook it again when i got back home. My boyfriend and friends laughed at me saying "you cook, no way". Anyway i wrote down the ingredients which i thought were in this dish, and was dying to go back to cook this dish. So, thats what i did. I bought all the ingredients which i thought were needed. I prayed and started my first day in the kitchen cooking. My cabbage dish was done and served at once for dinner. Everyone was eager to savour my first ever dish. WALLA!!! It turned out so good and everyone enjoyed it. From that day i started to enjoy cooking till today. In fact, I have participated and won several local cooking competitions in Singapore, including one organised by Island country club for Singaporean fusion food and a baking competition. I believe that in order to be successful in creating sumptuous food, you have to enjoy cooking, and cooking with love. After reading some of the write-Ups, I thought it would be fun to cook for guests from all over the world to let them taste some of our Asian cuisine which should be an experience to be remember. And of course, the unique culture of Singapore, which is a mixture of so many cultures, or should I say rojak? ;) I look forward to welcoming you to my kitchen. BonAppetit !!!
