Are you as passionate about one of Italy's prized products as we are? What are the most common types of olives used in Italy? What characteristics make up extra-virgin olive oil? Would you like to spend a day dedicated to celebrating Italy's "green gold" as well as discovering the art behind its production process, nutritional benefits and how to use it in cooking?
Come along with us as we embark on a roadtrip first to a frantoio (olive oil farm) in Lazio where you'll get to see firsthand how extra-virgin olive oil is produced and pick up tips on how to select the best qualities for yourself at home.
Then, we'll return to our place in the center of Rome, where you'll get to take part in preparing a 3-course meal (lunch or dinner) with us, using only the freshest and seasonal Italian ingredients. Each course will feature a different brand of extra-virgin olive oil, from the appetiser to yes, even dessert. The recipes are tried and tested by us and serve to bring out the prominent characteristics of each olive oil we've personally selected. We might pair one brand's peppery notes with fish or seafood for example, and save another's lighter and fruitier body to pair with a dessert.
The duration of the entire event lasts about 7 hours, depending on the location of the frantoio we will go to and their opening hours.
The meeting point is at our apartment which is a short 7 minute walk from Cipro Station (Metro Line A).
