This terrace is a unique characteristic of Venice and is called “altana”. It is made of wood and rests on the roof of the buildings. The terrace is also equipped with an awning as protection from direct sunlight. Only a few remaining places can claim to have an altana, and being able to have a drink on a private terrace is something off-the-beaten-path in Venice!
