I had an absolutely fantastic time with Lorenza! I had signed up to make the goulash with her. I told her where I was coming from, and we agreed on a starting time, and then she suggested if I want to arrive 30-45 min earlier, she could show me around the city a little before we started. So I got an amazing walking tour with her, and had such an incredible time learning so many things and chatting together. Then, after we got the goulash cooking, she was able to convince her husband to keep up with stirring it every so often so that we could go back out for a couple more hours! I have to say, Trieste is now one of my favorite cities, and it is primarily due to this wonderfully generous and fascinating tour. When we came back, we ate together with her husband, who had chosen a wine to complement the meal (a sommelier), and had even more wonderful conversation. Ended the meal with gelato from one of the best places in town that we had picked up on our walk around the city. They then called a taxi for me so I could get to my Bed & Breakfast with no trouble. They both speak excellent English, in addition to several other languages, and were also happy to help me with my Italian. I can't recommend this experience enough! This couple is incredibly generous, friendly, fascinating, and excellent hosts!
