ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

Food tour and more! What I call the Ultimate Food and Heritage Walk.

Navigate thru the bustling and lively streets of Kuala Lumpur.
Learning about the culture and history of a multicultural Malaysia.
Visit selected landmarks.
Taste and indulge in authentic food on the street and small restaurants.
Enjoy personalized attention on this private tour.

The Telegraph once wrote "Sample the greatest Asian cuisines in an old-meets-new metropolis – Kuala Lumpur. One of Asia’s most underrated cities surprises visitor with superb pan-regional cuisine, plus a wealth of old-world temples, mosques and architecture. Swirl in a swathe of ultra-modern skyscrapers and you have one seriously compelling metropolis, as eclectic and delicious as the city’s famous nasi lemak."

But having a meal while on holiday no longer means simply popping into a nearby restaurant for a bite or dining in a Michelin star restaurant or solely follow a social media recommendation. Let me select the best for you. Food, drinks and transport is included. The only thing that is not included in this tour is the alcoholic drinks.

ABOUT THEMENU

This tour offers a local touch - one that allows you to not just enjoy a meal, but also brings a historical and cultural journey through the country’s culinary scene. Hidden gems in alley that are thronged by locals bring an added dimension of excitement, mystery and surprise.

As we navigate through Kuala Lumpur you will learn about the rich history of each landmark along the route.

Walk along the bustling street of Lebuh Ampang (nicknamed Little India) with the smell of incense, loud music, flowers and good food. Indulge in some southern Indian cuisine and not forgetting to take away kacang putih (literally translated as 'white nuts', a popular Indian snacks.

Stroll along the riverbank of the famous river confluence that gave rise to the name of Kuala Lumpur and here we shall admire the magnificent Masjid Jamek (a principal mosque in the city).

As we walk through the British colonial area we shall explore the architectural style of administrative buildings of the colonial days. These buildings are classified into few building types such as government offices, public work department, town or city hall, railway stations and others. Very importantly, Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) which is among the earliest open spaces introduced by the British.

Roam the narrow streets between traditional pre-war shop houses and hear stories of Chinese migrants who left China and settled here in search of a better living. They worked as coolies during colonial times and stayed in the upper floors of these shophouses in small rooms.

Kuala Lumpur Chinatown is not merely a famous tourist spot but also having their historical and heritage values to compliment its facades. As we stroll through the five-foot-ways, rediscover the old trades such as woodwork, traditional Chinese medical halls, tea houses, calligraphy galleries, and bakeries that are still plying their trades here today.

Hence a testament to Malaysia's multicultural and multi-religious society can further be experienced when we make the many stops along the entire route to indulge in some authentic local cuisine.

ABOUT THELOCATION

We shall remain very much within the Kuala Lumpur city center. Areas like the former Little India, Chinatown and the British colonial area will be visited. Most of the time we shall be on foot to explore and occasionally using the public transport. I shall be meeting you at your hotel and we may need to take the public transport to the starting point to commence the walk.

Do this tour on your first or second day to get an idea on the various types of food that is available so that in your remaining stay you can further explore and indulge on your own.
