Grandma's Cooking Barcelona offers hands-on cooking classes in Barcelona in order to share tradition through cuisine. Let our Grandmas (or Grandpas!) share the recipes that have been passed down to them through generation after generation, uniquely Spanish and Catalan.

Come and spend a lovely time with Grandma in the kitchen, assisted by a "Social Cook", as we like to call them, who will translate for her and make sure that you are having a great time while learning the traditional cuisine of Spain straight from the source.

In our hands-on format, Grandma will teach you to cook a full menu from scratch consisting of a starter, main dish, and dessert. Once everything has been prepared, everyone will come together to eat! The dishes will be paired with local wines or refreshments.

Connect to the rich culinary tradition of Spain in a relaxed and casual atmosphere while cooking with friends and/or family. We'll see you in the kitchen!

Every Grandma will propose a full menu consisting of a starter, a main dish and a dessert.
We believe that ingredients play a crucial role in the cuisine. That’s why we use fresh and seasonal produce for our cooking classes, mainly sourced at the over 30 food markets displayed around the Barcelona City!

Here are some examples of dishes we offer (among the many that we have):

- Have you ever heard about Escalivada? It literally means “cooked in hot ashes” and it consists in baking three vegetables: red pepper, onion and eggplant.
- And you will discover the secret to good Catalan Romesco Sauce. This classic sauce is traditionally used to eat the grilled calçots, a type of scallion or green onion. The main ingredients include grilled tomatoes and garlic head, almonds, hazelnuts and ñora pepper meat.
- Or perhaps a delicious Gazpacho, which is perfect for hot summer days. It is a refreshing cold tomato soup from the south of Spain.

Main Dishes:
- The famous and ever popular Seafood Paella: our grandmas may cook up a black rice, colored with the ink of the cuttlefish and include seasonal artichokes. Or you may prefer Grandma Adela's version which is made with lobster!
- Do you know the Catalan Surf and Turf Dishes? Can you imagine a dish made with meatballs and cuttlefish, stewed in a fish broth? Chicken stew with crayfish and mussels could also easily be made in the Grandma’s classes.
- Fish from the Mediterranean Sea: Sole Fish with almond cream, Monkfish and Hake casserole, Cuttlefish with potatoes. Make this, step-by-step with Grandma!

- Pears cooked in Red Wine and Spices that will remind you to Christmas time: Cinnamon, clove, and star anise
- Torrijas: The British call it bread pudding, while Americans would probably call it "French Toast." Torrijas is a dessert recipe coming from the south of Spain during the 25th century as a way to use up stale bread. Make torrijas with your own hands and savour the amazing flavour!
- Mel y Mato, a delicious fresh cheese dessert, mato is a delicacy made by the monks of Monserrat's monestary. It is served cold with a drizzling of local honey and dried fruits and nuts.

Don´t miss out on Grandma’s secrets! See you in our kitchen!

Our classes take place in different districts of the city. Location changes depending on group size, as we utilize different kitchen labs centrally located in Barcelona. We will define a meeting point at least 48 hours before the event takes place.

Es super divertido, conoces gente maravillosa y aprendes millones de trucos de cocina. Fantástico!! Muchas gracias grandma's cooking Barcelona!

We thoroughly enjoyed this special cooking class and feast with Ives. Shopping in La Boqueria Market and then cooking on his rooftop terrace with a full kitchen, overlooking all of Barcelona, was terrific. We are still trying to replicate his delicious seafood paella. We cooked with two other couples. Dinner, wine and conversation as the moon rose over Barcelona with the lights twinkling below was magical. It was a memorable experience!

This was one of the best experiences I had in Barcelona. Yves was absolutely lovely, really friendly and clearly very passionate about food, and it was so nice to be welcomed into his beautiful home and meet his (very cute) kids! We were a group of four, and between us we cooked several tapas dishes which we shared up on the roof terrace with stunning views of the city. Yves was so informative and knows a lot about Catalan and Spanish food, and he shared so much information with us - I feel like a tapas expert now. His kitchen was amazing, the food was delicious, and we just had so much fun. Truly lovely experience and a great way to travel deeper, meet locals, and get a more authentic, interesting experience of a culture and cuisine. Thanks so much to Yves for a fabulous evening!
