Ever wanted to learn how to prepare some popular and traditional dishes such roti jala and tauhu sumbat? Interested in immersing yourself in an authentic Singaporean dining experience? Want to make a difference in the lives of others?

We are Neighbourhood Noms, a social enterprise that provides flexible income opportunities to homemakers from low-income families.

Come join us and experience a truly unique and tantalising cooking class and home dining experience! Our hosts will guide you in preparing some popular local delicacies and you’ll get the chance to enjoy the delicious food with them. This is an experience not to be missed!

ABOUT THEMENU

Drink: Katira (Also known as Syrup and Basil Seeds. Refreshing and rehydrating, this is the perfect drink for you to cool down in sunny Singapore.)

Appetizer: Tauhu Sumbat (Also known as Stuffed Tofu. A delicious local snack that is fun and easy to make, and rewarding when shared with friends and family)

Main Course: Roti Jala & Chicken Curry (Roti Jala is a net-like Malay crepe which derives its name from its net-like and lacy appearance. It is an especially popular choice to mark auspicious events like weddings. Chicken curry is literally made with curry and chicken as the main ingredients, but many other spices goes into this to create the mouth-watering fragrance and taste. Chicken curry is also commonly paired with Roti Jala for maximum enjoyment!)

Dessert: Bubur Merah Putih (Also known as Red & White Glutinous Rice. It signifies longevity and is usually made for celebrations. It is sweet and yet just savoury enough, it's something you can't miss out on!)

ABOUT THELOCATION

We will introduce you to Singapore’s Heartlands, where the majority of Singaporeans grew up and continue to live in. Each neighbourhood of the heartlands has a distinctive character and families that have lived there have many stories to tell and experiences to share.

Our hosts grew up in the heartlands and there's no better way to learn about the true Singaporean culture than to interact with them.
