ABOUT THEEXPERIENCE

Ever wanted to experience Tuscany in the day followed by dinner in a local's home in Rome?

A unique and immersive experience exclusively for 2-4 guests, where you get to spend a memorable time with an Italian and his Singaporean wife in Tuscany and in Rome. Come take a scenic drive with us as we take you to Scansano, a charming medieval town in the Tuscan province of Grosetto, replete with undulating hills and panoramic views that is home to the Morellino di Scansano wine. Upom arrival in Tuscany we'll have lunch at a farmstead featuring locally-sourced produce. Then, we will spend the afternoon visiting 3 highly-recommended and reputable vineyards where you will get to sample their unique products. None of them are identical to one another though they share the same soil. You can even purchase some bottles directly from them if you'd like! We spent the day with the Caretto's in October and we had a magnificent time! We had been looking for a way to get to Tuscany without renting a car and we didn't want a bus tour with a regulated schedule. We also had discovered through a YouTube video that there were folks opening their homes for a true Roman meal. Nadia and Matteo gave us the opportunity to do both in one shot. We met at a Metro station in Rome and were whisked away into Tuscany. After a great drive and conversation, getting to know each other, we stopped for a lovely lunch in a small, local eatery, overlooking the Tuscan countryside. It was like something out of a movie. Nadia and Matteo worked with the owner in helping us select from the menu; and wow, it was incredible - so decadent. After lunch, we went to the first of three wineries. Being October, we felt fortunate to be the only ones in each winery! Nadia and Matteo made sure we were well taken care of and able to taste and buy some amazing wines! Our last stop was my favorite - it was dusk when we arrived. We went into the tasting room, which felt like their family room. Being late October, it was olive harvesting time, and the winery owner also produced olive oil. She treated us to a tour of the olive oil production and filled a bottle of oil for us to take home. Her mother also brought us some of the ragu she had just made for their family's dinner. What an experience! It was a unique, very special day and it didn't end there. We drove back, under a nearly full moon, to Nadia and Matteo's home where they served us an amazing dinner to finish off the night. We couldn't have asked for a better day! Thank you so much to both of you! We can't wait to be back in Italy!

Nadia and Matteo are amazing cooks and people! As three American college students we do not know too much about Italian cooking so it was exciting for us to see how they worked in the kitchen. They shared cooking tips, their favorite ingredients to buy, and Matteo's family recipe for a red tomato sauce. We home made gnocchi and strawberry tiramisu. We had fun listening to their stories of Rome and asked them plenty of questions about the city and Italian life. Thanks for your patience, advice, and cooking skills Carettos, see you next time we're in Rome!

The Carettos took us first to some great markets and shops and teached us on how ingredients were made and why they chose them for the dishes. Then we learned some great dishes, some of which we chose by ourselves. They both speak English fluently and we had a great night with them as our companions!
