Incredibly great food shared with incredibly friendly people. Anca and Andrei hosted me for dinner at their home in Bucharest while I was on travel for work. I decided to book this on the first night of my trip so that I could try some real Romanian food and get some local intel that would help fill some of my free time in the ensuing days. Booking was simple, with Anca reaching out to me within a few hours to thank me for my interest, ask about my dietary preferences, and invite me to ask any questions at all. She was very responsive to any question I had and very eager to help. Their home was easily accessible, located in a residential area near the city center. After arriving I was served a glass of tasty homemade Romanian alcohol (hopefully Anca will forgive me -- I forgot the names of everything!). We enjoyed tomato and onion salad, peppers, and a dish we joked was "Romanian hummus" with caramelized onions spread over fresh bread. We followed with a hearty tomato-based soup and then cheese-stuffed polenta. The finale was a flan-like dish with brown sugar. Everything was delicious and, though Anca would say "it's just good food," she is a great cook and really knows how to make these dishes shine. I appreciated her explanations of where everything was sourced (locally) and which flavors pair well. While the food was fantastic, I also appreciated how laid-back and friendly Anca and Andrei are. We had great conversation (aided by a couple of beers) about everything under the sun. Andrei was also able to give me some great recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area, and even sent me home with a few pamphlets. Lastly, Anca and Andrei were even nice enough to make sure I got home safely after leaving their home quite late at night. When Uber failed me, they called a cab for me and made sure I was taken care of. I can't recommend Anca and Andrei highly enough. If you want great, hearty Romanian food in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, don't hesitate to book with them. My only regret is that I didn't bring more people with me!

Dinner with Anca was amazing! Her food is as good as her heart. You can really tell that she loves to cook and loves her culture. We spent a great night talking with her and her wonderful husband Andrei about everything in the world. She's extremely knowledgeable about all things Romania. Highly recommend dropping in to say hello.
